Agentic AI: what it is and why it changes everything

From an AI that answers to an AI that does

For two years, artificial intelligence dazzled us doing one thing: answering. You asked and it replied —a text, an image, a summary—. Impressive, but it was still a tool: you asked, it answered, and that was it. Agentic AI breaks that: it's the AI that stopped answering and started doing.

Agentic AI is the approach to artificial intelligence where the system doesn't just generate answers, but perceives a situation, decides what to do and executes actions to meet a goal, autonomously. Instead of giving you the answer for you to act on, it acts for you: it filters, schedules, replies, follows up. That leap —from generating to acting— is what makes it the most important change since ChatGPT appeared.

Generative AI vs agentic AI

The difference is clearest side by side:

Generative AIAgentic AI
What it doesGenerates content (text, image)Decides and executes actions
Your roleYou ask, you actYou give it a goal, it acts on its own
Example"Write me a follow-up email"Detects the cold lead and sends the follow-up

They don't compete: agentic AI uses generative AI as one of its capabilities. Generative is the brain that understands and writes; agentic is what adds hands and judgment so that, on top of thinking, it does.

Why it is the biggest change since ChatGPT

Processes keep working on their own with agentic AI

ChatGPT taught us to use AI as a copilot: you ask, it helps, you execute. Agentic AI moves it up a seat: from copilot to doing the work. The practical difference is huge —it's not how much it helps you write, it's how much work it takes off your plate without you being there—.

For a business, that means processes that used to depend on someone being available now happen on their own, at any hour. It's the difference between having a tool you use and having a system that works.

What changes for your company (and where to start)

A team focuses on strategy while agentic AI does the repetitive work

In practice, agentic AI takes the form of agents: systems trained on your business that execute concrete tasks —qualify leads, attend on WhatsApp 24/7, schedule meetings, order processes—. If you want to understand what one is and how it works, we cover it in what an AI agent is.

The most common mistake is chasing the trend: "let's add agentic AI". Do it the other way around: first define which repetitive process is costing you time or money, and only then decide if an agent solves it. If you have one of those processes going around, in an AI consulting session we look at it together.

And to see the value, two examples. Simple: an agent that attends the first WhatsApp message, qualifies and books —it gives the team back around 40 hours a month (over €600) that used to go into answering the same thing—. More ambitious: an agent that runs the whole front line across every channel, reactivates cold leads on its own, notes in the CRM and only passes to you what needs a person, 24/7 —there the saving reaches 100+ hours a month—. The difference between the two isn't the AI: it's how deep we got into understanding your business and how much we fine-tuned it, message by message, in the first months.

Frequently asked questions

Are agentic AI and generative AI the same? No. Generative AI generates content when you ask for it; agentic AI decides and executes actions on its own to meet a goal. Agentic AI usually uses generative AI as one of its tools.

Does agentic AI replace people? No: it handles the repetitive with clear rules, so people can focus on what needs judgment and a human touch.

Do I need a big company to use it? No. The smaller the team, the more noticeable —an agent does the repetitive work you have no one to delegate to today—.

Is it the same as an AI agent? Agentic AI is the approach; an AI agent is the concrete implementation of that approach in your business.
